It is the capital city of Nigeria. Abuja is a planned urban center located in the center of the country. It is a part of the Federal Capital territory. Abuja is among the top 10 most populated cities in the country. It became the capital in 1991, replacing the city of Lagos, the former capital of Nigeria.
The United Nations called Abuja the fastest growing city in the world with over 130% growth rate from 2000-2010. From 2015 onwards, its growth has relatively slowed down to about 35% per annum but it has still retained a place among the list of the world’s fastest-growing cities.
